30 Day Movie Meme: Day 05.

Day 02 - The most underrated movie
Day 03 - Favorite love story in a movie
Day 04 - The most surprising plot twist or ending

I'd be shocked if any of you've seen this.

I loooooooooove old movies & I looooooooooooove musicals. So I knew the genre I would be picking from, but would I pick a Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers flick? One with Jane Powell? Gene Kelly maybe? But I had to go with my favorite, one that never fails to make me smile: 1944's Meet Me In St. Louis, starring a flawless Judy Garland & beyond adorable Margaret O'Brien (WTF, I don't have a Margaret icon!??! I need a general classic movie icon or something...). It tells the story of the Smith family in vignettes thru the year leading up to the 1904 World's Fair. There's singing, there's dancing, there's hijinks, the costumes are beautiful, the songs are catchy (this movie introduced the Christmas classic "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"...which is like the only Christmas song I like & I get pissed when someone other than Judy sings it lolol).

Another famous song from the film, "The Trolley Song".

Chorus girl= totally seen it. We used to watch it at the end of the semester after exams. That, or Newsies.
We'd always end up singing the Trolley Song in the hallway. Also, Judy Garland's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is my absolute favorite version of the song, though I don't get pissed when I hear others. :P

You get a Psych icon because of my lack of musical icons.

AWESOME. I love when I hear of another young person who loves this movie. I get such grief from my mom & brother over my insane love for it. I insist on watching it whenever it's on TCM and they just like to make fun of it. My mom thinks I was born 60 years too late because I love these kind of movies; my brother thinks I'm just weird. (I totally have "The Trolley Song" stuck in my head now.)

I haven't seen that movie (surprisingly, because I love old movies, especially musicals!!) but I want to so bad! I adore Judy Garland, she was so great.

You need to see this one, she's absolutely breathtakingly beautiful & the songs are great. I get all ~giddy~ when I meet a young person who likes old movies (especially musicals). What are some of your favorites?

You're right, I haven't seen it, lol. But i'm really picky with musicals that i watch. I don't like all of them, only some XD

I was genuinely shocked that anyone on my flist had seen it. I've only ever met one person in real life that's seen it (excluding my mom & bro, who I sort of forced it on lol) and he was over 50.
